Save the date now: Tuesday 24 November, when the 16th conference on combating violence against women, organised by the City of Strasbourg and local feminist organisations, will take place.

For its 16th edition, the conference will focus on masculinism, a phenomenon that is currently a key concern for public authorities, national institutions and those working on the ground.

Recent work by the High Council for Gender Equality (HCE), the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the Senate’s Delegation for Women’s Rights and ARCOM highlights the rise of masculinist, anti-feminist and anti-gender discourse, as well as its widespread dissemination in digital spaces.

These analyses highlight the consequences of such discourse: the normalisation of sexism, the undermining of women’s rights and the reinforcement of mechanisms that foster gender-based violence. They emphasise the need to better understand this phenomenon in order to strengthen preventive measures.

By combining theoretical approaches, institutional analyses, legal responses and feedback from national and international experiences, the conference aims to provide professionals, students and the general public with a framework for understanding this phenomenon, assessing its effects and identifying avenues for action.
