Practical assistance to support students in Strasbourg throughout their studies. Whether it's housing, transport, health, social support or administrative procedures, the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and its partners offer practical solutions that are accessible to all. Students can also benefit from financial support: grants, housing assistance, meals at subsidised prices (€3.30 or €1 for grant holders in university restaurants) and even subsidised grocery stores such as Agoraé.

Financial assistance

The City and the Eurometropolis apply solidarity pricing (rates adjusted according to each person's ability to pay) to certain services, such as public transport (CTS), swimming pools, the ice rink and the conservatory, in order to determine the amount of grants awarded on social criteria.

You can consult the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions for the main higher education grants, including grants based on social criteria, on the CROUS Strasbourg website.
You will also find information on additional grants and specific assistance available to students who do not receive grants and are experiencing financial difficulties.
If you have any questions or are in a special situation, make an appointment with a CROUS social worker. They will be able to direct you to the most appropriate support for your situation, whether it is financial, personal or administrative.

Are you a recent high school graduate? The Crous provides merit-based assistance in the amount of €900 for scholarship students who have obtained a ‘Very Good’ grade in their high school leaving certificate. This assistance is paid in addition to the means-tested scholarship. Some banks also offer scholarships for recent high school graduates.

The Eurometropolis has contributed to the Youth Assistance Fund (FAJ) for young people aged 18 to 25 who are experiencing significant difficulties in entering the labour market. This is not a right but a one-off financial assistance.

You cannot apply directly. The application must be made by an authorised organisation.

Your tax return is not just for paying taxes. A tax assessment or non-taxation notice, which is issued following your tax return, is often essential for many administrative procedures (CAF, school grants, housing applications, social security, etc.).
If you are eligible for automatic filing, please consult the ‘automatic filing’ document available in your personal account and check the information provided.

Users who, when filing their tax return online, have included one or more children attending secondary school in their tax household will be asked, at the end of the online process, to check their eligibility for grants on the Ministry of Education website using the simulator provided for users.
The ‘Useful Information’ section of the final screen will be updated with a new link once the user has completed sections 7EA and 7EB. More information here

The University Life Department - Disability Mission offers a specific reception and support system to enable students with disabilities to pursue their studies in the best possible conditions by organising appropriate assistance or adjustments and advising them on their study and career plans.
