- Your bike must be fitted with working brakes, lights, reflective devices and a bell. On poorly lit roads, you must wear a high-visibility vest.
- In town, showing consideration for other road users is also essential: you must follow the Highway Code, avoid cycling the wrong way along cycle paths, adjust your speed in busy areas and take particular care around pedestrians.
- Cycling offences can result in a fine of €135.

Parking your bike safely and minimising the risk of theft
One final tip: protect your bike. It is important to remember to have your bike marked to deter theft: this is compulsory for both new and second-hand bikes sold by retailers.
In the event of theft, you can file a report online via Ma Sécurité and check whether the bike has been recovered by the police on the website dedicated to found bikes in Strasbourg.
