La Grande Lecture (the Big Read): extract from the launch program

From April 23 to 28, 2024, numerous activities, meetings, workshops, visits and readings will be held in over 150 places in Strasbourg, its districts and in the communes of the Eurométropole as part of the Grande Lecture, the inaugural event.
Most of the Grande Lecture program​​​​​ is free of charge, although some activities require registration.


23/04/2024 : inauguration of the "Strasbourg World Book Capital UNESCO 2024" year on International Copyright and Book Day.
On the program from 3pm to 5pm: round-table discussions and meetings with authors, some of whom are sponsors of the Lire notre monde project.

23/04/2024 : 6.30pm: inauguration of the Grande Lecture at Place du Château. 
The Big Read runs all week from April 23 to 28. Writers, musicians, actors and actresses come together in readings, songs, drawings and slams to launch "Strasbourg World Book Capital UNESCO 2024" and its Grande Lecture.

24 and 25/04/24 : launch of the "Rencontres de l’illustration" l, an event under the "Lire notre monde" label, on Wednesday April 24, and the "Printemps de la Librairie indépendante" on Thursday April 25. 
On the program: opening of the exhibitions "La Constellation Gustave Doré" (Palais Rohan) and "Julie Doucet. Une rétrospection" (Musée Tomi Ungerer).

26 and 27/04/2024 : a varied and unusual program celebrating reading in all its forms at over 150 venues in Strasbourg, including four major literary walks and bike rides in and around the city. 

28/04/2024: media library sunday 
To round off the "Grande Lecture" week, Strasbourg's media libraries and Eurométropole will be opening their doors on Sunday April 28 from 2pm to 6pm, with a festive, family-friendly program.
